Zaccheus...you come down! Luke 19

So this lesson as totally inspired by my Mini.  We got a new CD a few weeks ago and this was one of the songs on it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mV8wFANocHY
He sings it constantly.   He is always asking, "What does this song mean?"  So I thought I would tell him.  We started by praying that the Lord let us use Zaccheus' life to learn from.  Let it help us draw closer to God and become better Christians.

Next, We read his Bear Bible on Luke 19 which is about Zaccheus.  Then we watch this adorable video that I found on You Tube.

After we watched it, we talked about two major points.
1.  How God is friends with EVERYONE, even those who are not nice.
2.  How we  should give our sins to Jesus, so we can act in a way that is pleasing to him.

Next we made Zaccheus in a tree out of Toilet paper rolls, tissue paper and glue.

Mini said that these were our finger puppets!  Hehe

We turned our his new favorite jam and sang it which dancing with our Zaccheus hand puppets!  (and somehow our Monsters. Inc. characters ended up in our trees too! ) Hehe...gotta love their imaginations!

Fun, improntu, and short lesson!!! Now, nap time! :)

JESUS melts our hearts!

So there are a million different post on pinterest that deal with melting crayons for art!  I have always loved this!  But, I was trying to think of some way to include a Bible lesson into our week.  So we talked about the following verses...

Joshua 2:11
When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone's courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.

Every man's heart shall melt (comp. Deuteronomy 20:8; Joshua 2:11; Joshua 5:1, etc.).

I wanting to remind our boys that while heat melts crayon, God's love and grace melt our hearts.

So I got an extra tile, and then had the boys hand me crayons in the order that they wanted me to hot glue them on.

Then Waylon helped me "blow dry" the crayons until he like the way the crayons had melted.
Then the boys picked the colors for me to add "JESUS melts our hearts" in.  Super fun and easy!

Growing and Learning

What a crazy Summer it has been?  One with some disappointments, set-backs, unwanted surprises and scares.  But, I am not complaining.  While this has been a summer full of some tears, some anxiety, some uncertaintly....it has also been a time of learning and growing with the Lord.  I have learned TWO gigantic lessons this summer.

1.  We have the best family and friends in the world.  We have had so many stand up for us, love on us, pray for us, provide for us, laugh with us and even cry for us.  And while I know we are in a tough time right now.....not only have we learned to fully rely and love on each other....we have learned to realize we have so many around us that will ALWAYS be there for us!  WE ARE GRATEFUL!  We know exactly what we NEED and HAVE to have....Each other!
2.  Well....I have learned that the Lord will always be there.  I have realize that he uses these times to shape our hearts and grow our minds so we can be better people and Christians.  So we can hopefully be better demonstrators of him.  So I know God is using our happy times, our sad times, our difficult times, our easy times, our favorite memories, our darkest moments, our relaxing weeks and our busy weeks to remind us to trust in Him, to put Him first and to cling to Him through FAITH!

This summer has not been ALL bad anyway!  We have shared some exciting firsts with our boys, some special snuggles, some exciting surprises, some adventures with friends, and LOTS AND LOTS of LOVE!

God is good ALL the time.  ALL the time, God is good!

Summer 2013, Week 8

A couple days late...but finally getting to writing about last weeks adventures.  It was a pretty busy week at home.

Wes

Wesson had his 15 months check up!  As we all know...HE IS PERFECT!  No, but he is really great!   He has some shots and the poor guy had a pretty tough couple of days.  He was up for some extra snuggles and lovins which his Dada and I were more than willing to share with him!

You also had a tough time getting your legs to keep up with you, your batman cape, and your big brother outside one morning.  Giving you one BIG owie!  But big guy, you took it like  champ!

Other than that he said three new words this week; dip, my and me.  You are still WAY into jumping and playing around! Oh and of course, hitting everything with a golf club, giving kisses, monster hugs and saying AHHH after every drink of water.

WAY
That Mini is always learning and cracking us up...but this past week he mastered Mama's phone number, area code included and has been asking Dada to watch "Hank and the Hill" all the time!  Just like Dada!  He also continued to work on sight words...adding he, my, and jump to words he recognizes.  We played this little sight word game too, where he matched the blocks with the words.

We are also spending quite a bit of time working on our writing this week and we just can't believe how fast you are progressing.

Both boys enjoyed a treasure hunt created by daddy through out our house!  Such great little pirates we have!  The loved their treats at the end too!

THIS WEEK WAS ALL DINOSAURS ALL WEEK!
We went to the library and got some dinosaur books to learn some new cool info! (mama too)

We watch Dinosaur videos and song on the YouTube.

We had a sensory bin full of dinosaurs and the letter D to play in.

Waylon work on pattern identification with Dinosaur cards from the Kelloms.

The boys enjoy being paleontologist and digging the dinosaurs out of an iced cube.  Perfect for on HOT afternoon.

They made homemade PEPPERMINT playdough and then made fossils in the playdough.

They enjoyed using some Dinosaur stamps on eggs since that is where all dinosaurs came from.

It was a lot of fun and it just always amazes me how much Waylon absorbs and learns!  Such a smartie!

Some other events this week....
We went on a walk

went and fed the ducks again
Wes went with Mommy to go get her nails done

We played at the park
Snuggled snuggled snuggled with Dada'

rode around in our cars

and just enjoyed being Team Pearce.

Couldn't be more blessed than I am to have these days with these boys!  GOD SURE IS GOOD!

This Wonder Woman is SO blessed to be married to Super Man and have Green Latern and Batman for sons!  LOL....I sure love my family!
