DAVID AND GOLIATH

"The Battle is the Lords."
- 1 Samuel 17:47

So we did this weeks lesson a bit different....instead of doing it all in one day.....we read the story one day and colored a picture, then reread it and watched a movie, and then the following day reread it again and did some crafts! Kind of broke it up again!  I am a firm believer in reteaching ( I do teach high school) so I wondered if this would help him remember concepts better.  We shall see.

So day one...
We read his Bible

...which focused on 1 Samuel 17 and then Waylon colored a picture I printed from the Internet.  YAY...  we have ink again!!!

I also want to point out that we focused of the letters D and G and the sound they make....the letters David and Goliath start with and the concept of bigger and smaller throughout the entire week.

Day 2
We reread his story and watch the movie of David and Goliath.

Truth be told...Way wasn't a huge fan so he pretty much just watched while he played blocks!  So I actually found this Veggie Tale one that he loved!!

Day 3
We reread his story and talked about our bible verse.

ACTIVITY

We wrote our bible verse on a bag and then pretended we were David.  We went outside and picked our very own five stones from the yard to help us defeat Goliath.

This was perfect!  You know how boys love rocks!!!

SNACK
Stones!!!

These are yummy and easy!
Sweet Grapes!

Got it off pinterest of course!
Must make for lessons or just an awesome snack!  We used strawberry jello!

CRAFT
LOVED THIS!  We have so many rolls!  I couldn't however print David so I drew him on there!

Mini painted his Goliath!  It had been a while since we water colored!!

Then we just glued him on the paper towel roll!

I liked this because Waylon was actually playing with these later!!

Just a good reminder about how WITH God we can do ANYTHING!!!

GO DAVID!

Those darm lower case letters...

Those darn lower case letters have been stumping my Mini.  He has known his upper case for a while but now I am telling him that there are 2 A's and 2 B's....I am pretty sure he think I have lost it!  So, Mini loves to play the "matching" game.  So cut some flash cards in half.  Wrote the upper case letter on a blue card and a lower case letter on the green card.

Today, we only did letters A-F.

But they we just play matching with them.  We didn't do the memory version where you flip them back over.  Right now I am just focusing on him matching the Big Letter with the Baby letter!  Hoping this helps Mini understand a bit more!

He is getting pretty good! :)

6 down...20 to go! HEHE

PS....I have seen this done with cuter cards to match...like upper case letters on a scoop of ice cream and lower case on the cone!  Then you match to make an ice cream come.  Cute...but this Mama was in a hurry!! hehe

My favorite things...RIGHT NOW

1.  Strawberry Champagne Slushies...try them...they go with EVERY dinner (or lunch)!
http://www.une-vie-saine.com/2011/08/strawberry-champagne-slushies.html

2.  Mama Sammies!  At noon...don't bother calling or texting..this is where I am!  In between my two littlest loves getting some super fabulous snuggles before nap!!  My most favorite time of the day!

3.  Nursing my Bug A Lug!  (Don't worry there isn't a pic) I love this bonding and special time!  Plus, I love doing what I feel is the BEST for him!  I am lucky to be able to do it!!

4.  As much as I love hearing my Mini count to 20 or sing his A to Z's perfectly (oh yes...that was bragging) I just adore hearing Mini sing I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart and the Lord's army every day!  He even told me "I am so happy Mama, I have Jesus in my heart!"  Teaching my Mini about the Lord is my most important job as his Mommy!  Knowing he is grasping just a bit of it makes me so, so, so happy! :)

5.  Hearing my boys  LAUGH together!

6.  FRIENDS!  My Mommy friends that reassure me that I am not alone going through the "terrific twos" and my forever friends that remind me I am more than just Mommy!  Love all you ladies and I am so thankful for the friendships we share!

7.  Chicago Bear Pink Sweats!  Two of my most favorite things in the whole wide world!!  Awww.... super ready for the those fall football Sundays with my boys!
8.  My newest earring from my Mama!  My skin is so sensitive and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that I can wear these every day and not end up with bleeding ears!
8.  Johnson and Johnson Baby oil...and not for the babies!!  This is ideal for me to put on right before the shower...especially on those days that when I get out the boys need me right away!  (so...every day)!  Better than any lotion ever!

9.  My husband's kisses...ALWAYS!

10.  Watching my Mini have the honor of being the World's BEST and CUTEST ring bearer for some of our BEST friends!!

11.  FINALLY...EXTENDED MATERNITY LEAVE!!  You see I am SUPER LUCKY...I work part time at a job that I truly do LOVE. Plus, our boys stay with family...FOR FREE!!! A lot of woman would say that this is the ideal situation. But, all that know me, know that I am a CLING ON, HELICOPTER MAMA! My boys (Hubby included) are my whole world. When away, I freak at the thought of missing a "1st" or a special moment. I think about them constantly. You know that feeling you have when you forget your phone and you feel naked??? That is how I feel when my I am away from my boys....every time....and with heartache. It is true...I feel like a part of me is missing and I literately count down the hours EVERY day until I can be with them again. When I went back to work after Waylon, people would tell me "you will get used to it". I NEVER DID! I hated it every day. And cried on the way to work many many days even after a year. Now with two, I can't even imagine. I went back to work when Waylon was almost six months. I know...much longer than a lot of Mama get. It did allow me to create a good routine with him, get him on some solids, not have to pump at work, and BOND! So, with Wesson we decided this was a necessity too. After some praying and planning, I have decided to take an extended maternity leave and finish up my FMLA time. Since Wes is only 3.5 months, Derrick and I decided it is in the BEST interest of our family! WOOT WOOT! So, I will be missing the first two months of school and returning on Halloween! Haha... The WITCH is back Class!!    Looking forward to enjoying this precious time in my boys life for a little longer.  We have a lot more crafts to do, lunches to make, kisses to share, places to go and memories to make in the mornings!!

Baby Moses Exodus 1-2

"When I am afraid, I will trust in you, in God whose word I praise".
Psalm 56: 3-4

What an amazing thing for us to remember...ALWAYS TRUST IN THE LORD AND HE WILL ALWAYS PROTECT US!

Memory Verse

"You are my hiding place"
Psaml 32:7
(I wrote and said God or my Mini gets confused!)

Started with a prayer asking God to open our hearts to his message!  Then we opened our Bible

and read the story of Baby Moses from Exodus 1-2.

Then we watch the following video that really caught Mini's attention and told the story a bit in more detail!  THESE VIDEOS ARE AWESOME!  I am totally starting to love You Tube!  "God Loves you and will NEVER leave you!"

I then found this right off hand....we only watch the portion of Moses as a Baby!

SNACK!
(Snack and craft overlapped)
We made "baskets" out of cinammon rolls
Placed liners in the cupcake holders and pressed a Cinnamon roll into each one.

Then we cooked them for ten minutes.  As soon as they came out of the oven I pushed the center down with a soon to create a basket.

We had to incorporate the frosting so this is what we used for Baby Moses' blanket.  And we spooned it into the holes.  Then we added teddy bears to be our "Baby Moses"

And sprinkles....well because they are tasty!
And we had our very own Baby Moses in his basket!
And after a taste test...

These are highly recommended!

CRAFT

This one I got a little help ~

I printed this out and let Mini color it

While I cut out his hands on leaf color construction paper.
Then we painted some waves on a blue piece of construction paper to make the water.

Then we made the awesome water that God create sparkle by adding some glitter

And everything is better  with glitter so we added some to the hands

and baby Moses too!

Then we cut out our Moses and glue him on the water.

Added the hands and our Memory Verse~

And talked about how God is ALWAYS with us to PROTECT us and is OUR hiding place when we need HIM!

Super fun morning remembering to always trust in God and he will always protect us!  THANK YOU JESUS!
...my Bug fell asleep during the second movie!!  HEHE

MY required items for being a Mama of 2

Okay...so there is always a sense of fear that comes over ever woman (or At leastI did) when I found out I was pregnant...BOTH times!  But, I have found that being a Mama of two for me...the things I HAVE TO HAVE TO SURVIVE...are different than they were when I just had Waylon....well some of the items!

So here are my must haves....

1.  ERGO

....for many reasons...
- Wesson wants to be held CONSTANTLY (oh and I am not complaining...I love it)
- It allows me to still take care of Waylon (who only went in a carrier once in his whole life)
- I can nurse Wesson ANYWHERE!  It has a little head cover...today I was shopping at the Dollar Tree, picking out treats with Waylon and feeding my Wesson ALL at the same time.  And all discretely..I wouldn't want to offend anyone if they accidentally caught a glimpse of my boob while feeding my child!  THAT WAS SARCASM....get over yourself!
- it has an awesome little zip up pocket for key, cards, and phone too!!

2.  Kick butt Breast pump

Because do I look like I have time to sit around and pump for hours on end every day??  No way...I have playing to do and kisses to give!

3.  Starbucks plastic tumbler ( or whatever one)

I have about four of these that we use every day!  I am drinking a ton of water and Waylon likes to use them too!!  BIG MAN!  Prevents spills and is easy to sip out of in the middle of the night while nursing!

4.  Battery operated thermometer and Booger Sucker
These tasks are hard enough as it is!  MAKE IT EASIER of yourself and babies!!

5.  Dollar store animal storage

Cute, cheap, wash well, and stay closed!!!
I am so into routines!  I always say we are going to end up as a lifetime movie because we do the same thing every day/week!  Anyway, I get home from grocery store and split up snacks.  When I am busy is almost always when Waylon gets hungry....I grab him a cup and good to go!  Plus...these are perfect for trips to zoo, travel, park and car.  BEST part....if we loose one...oh well...it was only fifty cents!

6.  Keurig

Must admit...I was anti this and my Hubby demanded it!  BUT love it!  Fast when I am in a hurry and exhausted!  Plus...I am excited for some special winter treats they have coming out for this too!

7.  Vitamix Blender
THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING BLENDER EVER!!!!!!!!!  My first friend got this for me as a shower gift and I pretty much owe her 30 minutes of my day, every day.  We use it for EVERYTHING....daily it is used to blend my coffee and and make Mini a protein Jamba....it is also FABULOUS for making strawberry champagne slushies!!!  http://www.une-vie-saine.com/2011/08/strawberry-champagne-slushies.html  Soon...once the Bug is eating solids...this is going to totally be a life saver when making his food!  YEAH!!  LOVE LOVE LOVE

8.  Boppy

Way hated it....WES LOVES IT!!!  Perfect for in the playroom while playing trucks with his brother!

Other things that are saving me these days....
-the crockpot...I am actually making dinner for my family these days and am so proud of it!
- PINTEREST  http://pinterest.com/mamapearce/
....loving all the ideas and recipes I am getting for crafts and dinners
- You tube...they have fabulous Bible stories and songs on there that Mini just adores!!  Wish there were more of these on TV...we do this a lot instead!
- Diaper covers....IT IS HOT AND IT KEEPS THE LAUNDRY DOWN and prevents me from having to buy too many clothes for my Bug who is growing out of clothes at a ridiculous speed!!!

Things I don't use that I was SURE I would HAVE to have...
A monitor, car seat carrier....(my boys both out grew them so fast that I could never carry it) paci, baby bath, and bottle warmer!
